Hey!
We are Inger-Lise Kansa Olsen and Geir Jensen, and we are the hosts at Kjerringrokk.
We are social people and have always enjoyed having people in our home. When the idea of a “bed & breakfast” came up, we quickly realized that this was the idea we wanted to pursue. And it turned out to be absolutely right.
Since our first guest in 2007, there have been many pleasant moments, and we are continually reassured that people enjoy their stay. The feedback is positive, and guests often return—from more than 20 nations. With us, you should feel as comfortable as at home while also enjoying the experience of being away.
"Hello, future guest!"
My name is Torbjørn, and I'm the one who has designet this website for Kjerringrokk. I wanted to convey a good image of the hosts, so I visited Kjerringrokk. The conversation flowed quickly, and my notes suddenly piled up—then I had an idea: How about letting you, as a guest, be a part of the conversation?
Join me and get to know Geir and Inger-Lise better!
Since 2007
I knock on the door, greeted with a warm smile and welcomed inside. There are many pairs of shoes in the hallway; the house is full of guests. Yet, there is a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the house.
Geir and Inger-Lise, where did the idea for your own “bed & breakfast” come from?
We enjoy having people around us. We both grew up with a social life, and running a bed and breakfast gives us the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.
And you enjoy having the house full of people year after year?
We have hosted guests from more than 20 nations, and the house is often completely full. That is when we are at our best. But we value our guests’ wishes and privacy, so they can choose to socialize with us and other guests or retreat if they prefer. Here, everyone should feel at home!
Completely relaxed, with home-baked bread for breakfast
I have read a lot about the breakfast at Kjerringrokk; you get a lot of praise for it on the internet! What makes breakfast special?
We put a lot of love into our breakfast. We always bake homemade bread and serve a good selection of toppings. We use local ingredients and goodies from our greenhouse and garden, which really puts the finishing touch. It is important to us that breakfast is a good start to the day for our guests. And breakfast is served when it suits the guest; we are not a hotel with fixed times.
Even though I’m at work, I feel my shoulders slump. Now I have a nice chat with new friends, in a cozy house. The feeling intensifies when Geir and Inger-Lise ask for lunch. I understand that breakfast is popular, yes!
But what about check-in and check-out, are you as flexible there?
Of course, we will adapt there as well. Sometimes we pick up guests at the bus terminal when they arrive in the city, other times we guide them around. Again, a bit like visiting good friends.
You are an exciting and affordable alternative to local hotels, but isn’t that the hotel industry you’re comparing yourself to?
With us, everything is about the guest, and it is the two of us who are the hosts. Of course, that makes it more personal. We are concerned with creating a good, safe, and pleasant environment for those who come; a pleasant, hospitable home with good ceiling height. A home where it is good to be.
Constant development

Welcome!
The conversation continues, almost faster than I can take notes. It’s pleasant here, and I really begin to understand why guests return. I’m just visiting, but I feel completely at home. And I think a “Sámi drum journey” sounds really exciting—I’ll have to try it sometime!
What kind of guests is Kjerringrokk best suited for?
Everyone! And since we started, all the guests we’ve had have been delightful. But we are also well-suited for those who want to host events, don’t forget that! Last weekend, we hosted a 30th birthday party with 60 guests, and it was fantastic.
And I understand you customize events with the guests as well?
Yes, absolutely. Guests can choose from doing everything themselves and renting the venue to us handling everything. And everything in between. We adapt, which is why we are so well-suited for everyone.
It’s time to move on, even though I’d love to stay here until tomorrow!
This has been incredibly pleasant! And I’m sure every guest feels the same. Everyday life here must be wonderful?
We enjoy our daily life immensely. Come and share it with us!
