Bø Sommarland

24 km - 28 minutes
Bø Sommarland is a short drive from Kjerringrokk, and is one of Norway's largest tourist attractions with about 150,000 visitors a year. The park was opened in 1985 and is Norway's only outdoor water activity park according to Wikipedia. Bø in Telemark, right by, offers both shopping at the malls Bøsenteret, Sønstebøtunet as well as the main street. You'll also find a number of restaurants. We help you find your way.

Notodden City-Center

Notodden town center, just 3 km away, offers a great main street and small-town city life in the middle of the world heritage. Here you will find a number of exciting shops, restaurants and cafés. Here you will also find the Telemark Canal and several museums, as well as a swimming pool, cinema and the Wine Monopoly. 
The mall "Tuvensenteret" is within walking distance of Kjerringrokk, just a short walk on flat roads. Here you will find a number of shops, as well as 2 restaurants/cafés. In the immediate area you will also find other stores for electronics, interior, etc.

Heddal Stave Church

and Heddal Bygdetun
2.9 km - 5 minutes
Heddal Stave Church is the largest in Norway. An architectural masterpiece, where the oldest part is from year approx. 1147. 
300 meters away you will find Heddal Bygdetun (farm museum) which gives you an insight into what farm life was like in the old days. Both places you'll find something to eat, see their website for more info and guided tours.

The World Heritage Cities

Notodden and Rjukan
Notodden: 3 km / Rjukan: 70km - 1 hour
The World Heritage cities Notodden and Rjukan are on UNESCO's list of world heritage places. Here you can see and experience one of Norway's largest industrial adventures and learn more about the exciting story. Notodden is close by, while Rjukan is about 1 hour away. There is an express bus between Notodden and Rjukan departing close from Kjerringrokk.

Cable cars, Vemork, bungee jumping and aquapark

The Vemork Heavy Water Museum is a major part of the war history. The museum is large and offers a number of exciting experiences throughout the year. 
Krosobanen cable car is a gondola course that runs all year round. Here you are guaranteed an airy experience! 
Telemark Adventures offers bungee jumping from the Vemork Bridge, an experience you will not forget in a lifetime. Rjukanbadet is a fantastic indoor and outdoor aquapark for the whole family.

Kongsberg

Ski center & large shopping mall

At Kongsberg you will find a large and beautiful ski center with long opening hours. In Kongsberg you will also find Stortorvet Shopping Center, which is the region's largest.

Gaustatoppen

Gaustabanen & Gaustablikk
80 km - 1 hour and 10 minutes
Gaustatoppen is the region's highest mountain and gives you the best view in southern Norway. It is 1883 meters high and is climbed by 120,000 people per year. At the top you can enjoy a coffee or a good Norwegian waffle at the tourist lodge at the top. If you don't want to walk, we recommend Gaustabanen - a spectacular train ride inside the mountain itself that will take you to the top, an experience in itself! Nearby you will also find a ski center. Go explore!
